External Advisory Board
TerraTwin’s External Advisory Board brings independent expertise in environmental consulting, remote sensing, and digital twin standardisation to guide the project’s scientific and technical direction.
Dr. Leonardo Marotta Minestroni
Expert in environmental consulting/impact evaluation, with a long-standing focus on the ICZM (Integrated Coastal Zone Management) framework. Environmental generalist attorney with substantial impact assessment and strategic planning experience, and direct experience with strategic environmental assessment and sustainability appraisal. Focus on energy, landscape, coastal and maritime planning, specialising in cumulative impacts, landscape science and urban ecology services. Also active in academic work and in advising corporations on environmental management issues.
Prof. Giorgos Mallinis
Professor of Remote Sensing in the School of Rural and Surveying Engineering, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. His research focuses on Remote Sensing and GIS for natural hazards and disaster risk management, geospatial engineering, rural/urban spatial planning, fire and forest management, and climate change adaptation. He coordinates AUTH’s research team in the EU co-funded projects “LIFE EL BIOS – hELlenic BIOdiversity Information System: An innovative tool for biodiversity conservation” and “Integrated actions for the conservation and management of NATURA 2000 sites, species, habitats and ecosystems in Greece – LIFE IP 4 NATURA.” Within these projects, two webGIS platforms have been developed: ELBIOS MainGIS and GIS Natura.
Mr. Sigmund Kluckner
A recognised contributor to the advancement of Environmental Digital Twins, working at the intersection of community facilitation, systems engineering, and standardisation. He plays a leading role within IEEE standardisation activities in the SSIT and OES standardisation committees, and has co-founded standardisation initiatives on Digital Twins of the Earth and technical knowledge commons. His work spans applied research in digital transformation for the benefit of the planet, contributing to European and international projects that leverage Digital Twins for environmental monitoring, data-driven decision-making, and sustainable innovation. With a strong emphasis on responsible technology design, his expertise bridges technical architecture with governance, positioning him as a key figure in the evolution of trustworthy and scalable Digital Twin ecosystems.
